My Dearest Creating Abundance Readers,

I just reread my New Year’s wishes blog. I couldn’t believe how fast 2010 went by and now it is March 11th of 2011. I have to say that the speed in which our days are moving now is equally swift. There is an Aborigine saying…how long is eternity? So if we have forever it really is irrelevant how quickly the days pass. However, I think the challenge is adjusting to the pace.

One of the things that is helpful for me is an Abraham-Hicks quote and I paraphrase. You will never get it all done. Knowing that really takes the pressure off. For me it frees me to focus on being in the moment and doing the best I can.

On New Year’s Day or maybe even the first week of 2011, I desired to choose a new direction for this Blog. Of course, it had to be about creating abundance. Instead of drawing on the knowledge I’ve acquired through the years of studying metaphysics, and the coursework I studied for my Masters degree, I desired a new perspective. I had an abundance of choices for there is an abundance of material to choose from. Have you heard of the book title, the Prosperity Bible? It is a collection of the major, classic works on the topic of abundance. I considered writing based on those essays and books. The Prosperity Bible is like a gold mine of teachings and contains enough material to write on the theme for a life time. Okay, but at least a year…wink, wink.

However, I came across a new source. Although the book was new to me, the author was not. I was introduced to Robert Scheinfeld through his audio series called the 11th Element. At first I was intrigued with his ideas, but then one part didn’t ring true for me. You know how we hold onto books and audios thinking someday maybe we’ll listen again, and we know we probably won’t. That was the case for me…I still own the 11th Element.

Robert’s latest book is called Busting Loose from the Money Game. In my next blog I’ll write the story of how a friend of mine kept bugging me to read it. Until then, remember…

Quick Ways to Make Money – Don’t Become Confused

Are quick ways to make money the best approach to making money? You certainly can find opportunities that promise you a way to make money quickly. You might even come across legitimate ways to make money quickly, but you also have to ask yourself if these ways will be lasting or a flash in the pan.

For instance, many network marketing businesses offer quick ways to make money. You’ve probably heard the ‘get 4, who get 4, who get 4’ technique that promises a residual income for life. It really sounds good when it’s presented. I know first hand, because I bought into the theory myself on more than one occasion. It sounds so good that it’s hard to resist.

To make it even simpler, sometimes people will use 3 people or even 2 people instead of 4. The presentation of this idea is such that you’re made to think that people are just waiting by their phone to hear from you and get started. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Your family and friends cringe when they hear that pitch. They may be polite but for sure they are not listening. They are doing the time until you finish so they can change the subject or find the nearest exit.

If you’re the kind of person who is a hard worker, it’s difficult to imagine that you can’t find 4 other people like yourself who will understand the value of this system. You’re willing to work day and night with them so that they will be as successful as you.

It’s surprising when the reality sinks in that signing up 4 people is not quick in real life. Even if you are fortunate enough to fill the first tier, what about the 2nd level and how about the 3rd level and so on?

Quick is often thought of as the equivalent of easy. If we stick with the same example, nothing could be farther from the truth. Network Marketing is not easy. It may be enjoyable. It may be a passion. It may even provide an important service, but it is not easy. Run as quickly as you can if a person is making you that promise.

Another fallacy is that the 4 people you enroll will stay the course or their people will stay the course. Enthusiasm is contagious in the beginning, but not nearly as easy to sustain when negativity or defeatism sets in. Once people begin to feel that their efforts are not getting quick results and that it takes persistent energy, they begin to lose interest and then the momentum winds down. Before you know it they’re gone.

Okay, that’s the argument for changing your mindset from quick to lasting. In my next post I’ll write about the benefits of creating a lasting way to make money. Until then, remember…
